I am trying to understand how the name space(s) for channel names is/are managed.
Suppose I successfully create the channel XYZ@hubzilla.org.
Then I suppose that XYZ turned out to be unique in some name space.
Is that namespace only the local channel name space on hubzilla.org?
Suppose I want to clone XYZ on klacker.org, i.e. the "channel address" of the clone would be XYZ@klacker.org.
I have a feeling that this will be possible only if XYZ is not already created as a channel on klacker.org? Or are channel names taken from a global (Hubzilla-wide) namespace, so that I can trust that XYZ will be available at any Hubzilla server if I managed to "get it first" on some server?
If my current assumptions are correct, it seems to me that for the channel migration to work as I hoped for, there ought to be a "global" (Hubzilla-wide) administration of channel names. I guess that is not the case, because that would soon be as complex as the administration of the general domain name system for the internet. So, if I ever would consider migrating a channel to a different server, I had better initially choose a rather long channel name in order to hope for uniqueness. I am looking for an explanation of these fundamental name space questions, because I so far could not understand it from my reading of help and various articles, so links to articles or help pages would be much appreciated.
