How does lemmy <-> hubzilla federation work? Can we improve the
experience for lemmy?
Basically the summary. This is what happens in detail according to my understanding. Please excuse my mistakes, I'm still very new to all of this...
In a typical Zot community (like this one), you can set the post permissions to be set to the forum channel and all is good.
However, in Lemmy, communities are group actors and need the post to be public which they subsequently "repost" to be visible to those who subscribe to the community. Public is needed because the post needs to be visible in local/federated/all timelines as well and the community will not broadcast it (or whatever the terms are, I hope you get the point).
For fediverse outside of lemmy, the usual way is to have the title be the title of the lemmy post, and the body should have the community 'tagged' in the body. This is sort of annoying for the lemmy users.
When asked at fediverse@lemmy.world, someone suggested to do this to avoid the explicit tag and
it would seem fairly trivial to make it possible to address channels explicitly in a Multiselect field somewhere, rather than it being implicit by mentioning their handle in the body.
Now I have no idea what the Multiselect field means tbh. Any suggestions?
