Hi Peter,

Which Hubzilla help do you use/consult?
Is it the one you can find in Hubzilla itself under ‘Help’, or is it the new version that still needs to be added there ( https://help.hubzilla.hu/en) It is better to use the external link. This is the new, revised version of the help section, which still needs to be integrated into Hubzilla.

The ‘Photos’ app is used to manage images, but it's not really convenient. However, you can still create folders using the web interface. Click on ‘+ Add Photos’ to open a dialogue box. In the top input field, you can enter an existing folder (listed in the sidebar) or create a new one. The folders listed in the sidebar are listed there from the root level of your cloud. If you want to create a subfolder in an existing directory (listed in the sidebar) to upload a photo, you must enter / in the input field. This will create this subfolder when the image is uploaded.

You do not need to enter the folder (if it exists) manually. If you select one of the existing folders in the sidebar, it will be automatically transferred to the input field. If you then want to create a subfolder there, all you have to do is add / after it.

Overall, however, photo management is quite rudimentary.

The ‘Gallery’ app is not intended for photo management, but only for presentation.

The most convenient management is provided by the cloud, i.e. the “Files” app. Here you can also create empty folders for later use, rename, move, copy and delete files, and set permissions (all via the ‘...’ icon next to the file name or file icon).

Webdav works! Even with Dolphin. However, I noticed that the help is not really correct. I'll correct that later.

The address must be:

davs:///dav//

For example, davs://klacker.org/dav/examplechannel/

Important: The permissions (channel role) must be set accordingly. The channel role must allow access (upload/modify) to the cloud storage. This should be the case for ‘public’. Then you will be asked for your login details. For ‘custom’, the option ‘Can upload/modify my file storage and photos’ must be set to ‘Anybody authenticated’, otherwise the upload will not work (nor will you be able to create folders or copy/move files and folders).

About my "Sprechstunde":

To post in the forum, simply write @!hubzillasprechstunde@hub.hubzilla.hu at the top of your post, followed by your text. This will then appear in the forum. If there are replies and you want to respond to them yourself (i.e. comment), you do not need to include the mention (@!...) again.

Alternatively, you can click on ‘Forums’ in the sidebar of the stream and select the "Sprechstunde". Then you can create a post as normal using the share field at the top, which will appear in the forum.

Dear Pepe,
Thank you for the extensive and helpful answer. The help i found regarding the cloud access was https://help.hubzilla.hu/en/usermanual/cloud_storage.html. I gave up using the currently built-in help (via "?"), and used general Duck-Duck-Go search to find the help.
Now I got Webdav to work in Nautilus, and with your additional explanations I am now ready to try some simple photo albums. Then I will try to understand and test access control lists.

That's great.

I've already corrected the new help. The ‘’ was missing at the end of the DAV address.

BTW: If you create other channels or want to quickly find the address of a channel, just go to Settings -> Channel settings. The web address of your Cloud is at the top. If you replace https with davs, you will have the correct address.
