Thoughts on Hubzilla and my misconception of the Fediverse.

I guess it's time for me to post something... I signed up to #
Hubzilla a while ago but I wanted to get a better idea of everything it has to offer before starting to use it. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding now and I must say I'm quite impressed!
The killer feature for me is the nomadic identities.
Until recently, I've completely dismissed the #
Fediverse because I thought that unless I run my own server, I had to be at the mercy of whoever was running the server I signed up to. I didn't see how that was any better than being at the mercy of any of the big tech platforms. So as far as I was concerned, the fediverse would only be an option for me once I could run my own server. Obviously, I didn't know about nomadic identities...
Just today I made use of the nomadic identity feature. Earlier today my primary hub seemed to be down, so I logged on to another hub where I had cloned my account and continued as before. Killer!
Not to mention, I don't have to worry about being misaligned with an ideologized admin, something that I've learned the hard way can be a bannable offense. And then, of course, there are all the other features that I won't even get into in this post.
A bit overwhelming at first, which is probably why this platform isn't more popular, but it's well worth a closer look.
Edit: ...and the ability to fix spelling mistakes after the fact is very handy! 😅
